Huli Huli Sauce for Juicy Grilled Chicken

Sweet, smoky, and a little tangy. This Hawaiian-style sauce turns simple grilled chicken into something bold and sticky. You get caramelized edges, deep flavor, and juicy bites every time.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
For the Chicken
  • 4 boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. 1. Make the Sauce
    In a bowl, mix pineapple juice,soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, honey, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil
    Stir until sugar dissolves
  2. 2. Marinate the Chicken
    Pour half the sauce over chicken
    Cover and chill for at least 1hour
    Save the rest for basting
  3. 3. Grill the Chicken
    Heat grill to medium-high
    Oil the grates
    Place chicken on grill
    Cook 6 to 7 minutes per side
  4. 4. Baste for Flavor
    Brush with remaining sauce whilegrilling
    Turn and baste again
    Cook until internal temp hits 75°Cor 165°F
  5. 5. Rest and Serve
    Let chicken rest for 5 minutes
    Slice and serve with extra sauce
